3 Honored by VFW and Ladies Auxiliary

GRAND FORKS (WDAZ-TV) - Several people were honored Wednesday night in Grand Forks for their contributions and work in the community. The VFW and Ladies Auxiliary honored the department of North Dakota State winners for the VFW.

GRAND FORKS (WDAZ-TV) - Several people were honored Wednesday night in Grand Forks for their contributions and work in the community.

The VFW and Ladies Auxiliary honored the department of North Dakota State winners for the VFW.

Deputy Chris Hutton received the Law Enforcement Award of the Year, Bill Landry from Central High School is Teacher of the Year and Jeffrey Ruben is Firefighter of the year.

This is the first time there has been three department winners.

"Since I've graduated high school, I've dedicated my life to serving others through the National Guard, through volunteer fire departments and then also with the sheriff's office and when I came back from Iraq I became a member of the VFW and this is something they approached me on," Chris Hutton said.

The three winners will now be considered for national awards.
