NEAR PLUMMER, MN (WDAZ-TV) - An air quality company continues to monitor the area around Plummer after a petroleum spill. More than 30,000 gallons of petroleum product spilled into a ditch near Plummer after a semi collided with a train there Saturday.

The Red Lake County Sheriff's Department wants people to know the area is safe and is being monitored 24-7.
Officials say they started excavating the contaminated soil and hauling it out. Cleanup is likely to take a week.
Highway 59 between Minnesota Highway 92 and Red Lake County Road 1. Traffic is being detoured around the accident scene.
