ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Gov. Tim Pawlenty is planning to release
the last bonding proposal of his time in office.
That's the package of state construction projects that will be
paid for with borrowing. The Republican governor will put out his
list at a news conference at the state Capitol.
Pawlenty's spokesman says the package will be "austere" to
reflect tough times caused by persistent budget deficits. The
governor's proposal is likely to clock in around $725 million.
That puts Pawlenty on another collision course with the
Democratic-led Legislature. The chairs of the House and Senate
bonding committees have hinted their proposal will be closer to $1
billion.
