PEMBINA COUNTY, ND (WDAZ-TV) - Farmers in Pembina County are out in the fields planting crops instead of fighting a flood this year.

Fields that are usually covered in water this time of year are dry and ready for crops.

Some farmers have been planting wheat over the past few days as the ground temperatures reach 50 degrees.

Farmers say it's a nice change to be out in the fields this early.

"The ground temperature is coming up. It's about 50 degrees and wheat will germinate at 40 and we've been going for two days now and it's going really well," Tony Cleem with Wilward Farms said.

Farmers say even if there's a late frost, the crops they've planted should be fine.
