Students at Central Middle School in Devils Lake are helping the victims of the earthquake in Haiti. They are selling raffle tickets and money raised will then be donated to the Salvation Army. Students are trying to raise $5,000. They are selling the tickets for $5 each until the end of next week. People who buy tickets have the chance to win a 32 inch flat screen TV or a one night getaway to the Spirit Lake Resort. Students will be selling tickets at basketball games, and hope every student at the school will sell at least one ticket.
Mariah Kowalski/Seventh Grade Student: "We learned about it more and [we] really wanted to get involved with it because [we] heard about the tragedy over there."
Jordyn Buckmier/Seventh Grade Student: "If it happened to us we would hope that people would do it for us. And we're all really family here, so it's something. We can all help each other."
If they reach their goal Principal Josh Johnson will shave his head in front of the whole school.
