NEAR CROOKSTON, MN (WDAZ-TV) - Eight people involved in a two-vehicle crash just west of Crookston early Monday evening escaped serious injury.
One of the vehicles involved, a 2000 Dodge Van, was carrying six juvenile passengers. Two were treated at RiverView Hospital in Crookston for non-life threatening injuries. Four others had no injuries.
The Minnesota State Patrol said the driver and all of the passengers in the van were wearing seat belts or child safety restraints.
The van was driven by a 17-year-old Ashby, MN, girl who was stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of US Highway 75 and US Highway 2 at 5:23 p.m. when the patrol reports she failed to yield to a westbound VW Passat driven by 21-year-old Taylor Semrau of Grand Forks. The driver of the van had non-life threatening injuries and Semrau sustained minor injuries. Semrau was also wearing a seat belt.
The Passat had heavy front-end damage and the van had extensive damage to the front, left and left driver's side. Airbags in both vehicles deployed.
