Some good news for the local ecomony. After a hiring freeze last year Digi-Key of Thief River Falls is hiring again.

For the first time in the electronic component sellers history they have surpassed 2-thousand employees, and may added another 200 by the end of this year. The company says during the second half of last year sales turned around. Digi-Key sites continued growth in Europe and Asian markets, and a strong presence on the internet as reasons for the growth.

Rick Trontvet of Digi-Key says "They are gaining market share, but also the economy is showing signs of rebounding in the part of the economy we serve. So our electronic distribution sales is growning and we are growing right with it.

As of January 3rd Digi-Key was employing 2,020 people. In 2008 and 2009 the company did not lay any workers off. They cut over time hours and did not hire new employees when other workers left the company.
