Former UND Aviation Student Killed in California Crash

(WDAZ-TV) - A former University of North Dakota aviation student was one of the men killed in the crash of a stunt plane in California. 32-year-old pilot George Mellone III of Yuma, AZ, graduated in 2007.

(WDAZ-TV) - A former University of North Dakota aviation student was one of the men killed in the crash of a stunt plane in California.

32-year-old pilot George Mellone III of Yuma, AZ, graduated in 2007.

He and 24-year-old co-pilot David Ostendorf of Salinas, CA, died Sunday in the crash in a field near the Salinas airport.

The crash continues to be investigated.
