AVON, Minn. (AP) — A man who died in Stearns County over the weekend after he lost control of his all-terrain vehicle has been identified as a 19-year-old Avon man.

The sheriff's office says the man was Daniel Nierenhausen. He died of injuries suffered when his ATV crashed into a tree in Collegeville Township.

Sheriff John Sanner says his office was called to the crash shortly before 3 a.m. Sunday.

Authorities believe Nierenhausen lost control on a curve, slid across a dirt road and struck a tree. He was treated at the scene but died while he was being airlifted to a hospital.
