FARGO – Police arrested a man early today after he allegedly tried to break into a second-floor apartment here by using a knife to open the door.
Sgt. Mark Lykken said the female tenant of the apartment in the 2200 block of 11th Avenue South was sitting on her couch when she saw a man on the balcony trying to get into her apartment and called police at about 1:54 a.m.
The suspect had used a knife to jimmy open the screen door and was working on the second door when police arrived and arrested him, Lykken said.
Brian Lee Pfeifer, 21, of Park Rapids, Minn., was arrested on suspicion of criminal trespass and taken to the Cass County Jail.
Pfeifer allegedly told police he believed he was at a friend’s residence, Lykken said, adding alcohol appeared to be a factor.
“This is a good example of why police always advise you to lock your patio doors,” he said.
