GRAND FORKS (WDAZ-TV) - Two Grand Forks County businesses failed a recent alcohol compliance check by the Sheriff's Department.

The checks were done on Friday, April 13. Working with plain clothes and uniformed deputies, underage youth went into the businesses and tried to purchase alcohol.

The two businesses that failed were the Iron Horse Saloon in Inkster, ND, and Racers Bar in Manvel. In both cases, the youth weren't asked for their age and only one of the businesses asked for identification, but both still still sold the alcohol.

The sale of alcohol to a minor is a Class A misdemeanor punishable by fines up to $2,000 and/or one year in jail. Offenders are typically fined several hundred dollars.
