GRAND FORKS (WDAZ-TV) - Construction at the YMCA Family Center in Grand Forks is moving slower than expected.

The $3 million project is moving along, but the new racquetball courts took longer than expected. More space in the free weight and cardio area is nearly finished.

Other construction will be done nearly two months later than originally expected.

There will be some other additions that weren't going to happen right away and some new equipment added as funding becomes available.

"Anytime there's renovations on an old building there always tends to be surprises but there haven't been too many and there's some things that maybe take a little more lead time than others. But all in all we're very pleased with how the flow has gone," YMCA CEO Debbie Thompson said.

Renovations are starting now on the group exercise room and after that, the lobby.
