Man Leads Authorities on 24-mile Chase Near Langdon, ND

NEAR LANGDON, ND (WDAZ-TV) - A 52-year-old Fargo man is in custody after a high-speed chase and crash near Langdon on Saturday night. James Strickland led Cavalier County Deputies on a high-speed chase for 24 miles.

NEAR LANGDON, ND (WDAZ-TV) - A 52-year-old Fargo man is in custody after a high-speed chase and crash near Langdon on Saturday night.

James Strickland led Cavalier County deputies on a high-speed chase for 24 miles.

Police were responding to two calls reporting a suspicious person in their yards. Deputies tried to stop Strickland's vehicle around 8:30 p.m. but he fled northbound on Highway 1.

Authorities say Strickland then rear-ended a patrol car, totaling the vehicle. He kept driving through Langdon and ended up running his car into the water at Mount Carmel Dam, 12 miles north of the town.

Cavalier County deputies arrested Strickland just before 9 p.m. Charges are pending and Strickland is being held at the Cavalier County Correctional Center in Langdon.

The deputy involved in the crash was taken to the Cavalier County Memorial Hospital and was treated and released with no injuries.
