GRAND FORKS (WDAZ-TV) - An early Tuesday morning house fire left two residents injured and caused over $130,000 in damage, according to the Grand Forks Fire Department.
At 2:38 a.m., firefighters arrived at 3521 11th Ave. N. and found fire and smoke coming from the front of the house. Four people were evacuated and outside of the home before firefighters arrived.
Two of the four were taken to Altru Hospital "for treatment," according to a media release issued Tuesday morning. The extent of their injuries and their identities have not been released.
"The fire started on the first floor in the living room area. There is a lot of heat and smoke damage and fire damage in that room," Battalion Chief Mike Sandry said.
Damage to the home is estimated at $75,000 to the structure and $60,000 to the contents. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
"These four occupants in this home, they're very fortunate to get out of the house. Got them out a couple of windows. So, once again, check your smoke detectors, make sure you have an exit plan for your kids so they know where to go," Sandry said.
