BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — A North Dakota man charged with attempted deliberate homicide last year after a man was stabbed outside a south-central Montana bar has pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of aggravated assault.

The Billings Gazette reports 28-year-old William John Quade of Fargo, N.D., entered his plea April 19 in District Court in Carbon County for the June 22, 2011 stabbing of 27-year-old Aaron Edmondson in Red Lodge.

Quade remains jailed in Billings. Prosecutors plan to seek a 15-year prison sentence with nine suspended when Quade is sentenced on June 21.

Prosecutors alleged Edmondson and others met Quade at a Red Lodge bar and invited him to Edmondson's house for a party. A woman accused Quade of stealing money, and Quade left after an argument. Prosecutors say he returned with a knife and stabbed Edmondson during a fight.
