Grand Forks Man Injured in Motorcycle-van Collision

GRAND FORKS (WDAZ-TV) - A Grand Forks was injured Tuesday night in a van-motorcycle collision at the intersection of S. Columbia and 22nd Ave. S. at 8:19 p.m.

GRAND FORKS (WDAZ-TV) - A Grand Forks was injured Tuesday night in a van-motorcycle collision at the intersection of S. Columbia and 22nd Ave. S. at 8:19 p.m.

Charlie Lundblad, 21, was driving a 1999 Yamaha motorcycle north on Columbia. Albert T. Opp, 81, of Grand Forks, was also driving northbound on Columbia in a 1998 Plymouth passenger van.

Police say Opp tried to make a left turn and go west on 22nd Ave. So. when he collided with the motorcycle.

Lundblad was ejected and landed on the west berm of Columbia Rd.

A witness to the crash said Lundblad was wearing a helmet. He was taken by ambulance to Altru Hospital with what the witness said were mainly leg injuries. He in satisfactory condition by Wednesday afternoon. No one else was injured.

Opp was cited for failure to yield at an open intersection.
