FARGO – A 31-year-old Fargo woman faces charges after police say she broke out the window of a car with a 3-year-old child inside during a dispute with a former boyfriend.

According to charges filed Tuesday in Cass County District Court, Tiffany Lynette Downing suspected Maurice Grant, her former boyfriend, of having an affair with a friend of hers.

When she saw the two of them leaving together in her friend’s car on Sunday, Downing allegedly became upset and broke the rear window of the car with a crowbar, police say.

Inside the car was her friend’s 3-year-old son, who was nearly struck by the crowbar and was scratched by broken glass, documents state.

Downing is charged with reckless endangerment, a Class C felony.
