(WDAZ-TV) - The Grand Forks Region Base Realignment Impact Committee is in Washington D.C. working to make its case for a UAS test site.

The group is meeting with Air Force personnel and Congressional delegation staff among others to update them on continuing base realignment impact efforts.

The group has been lobbying to make North Dakota one of six unmanned aerial system test sites. It would test UAS aircraft in commercial airspace.

The air base has transitioned in recent years from a tanker mission to home of the Air Force's UAS fleet including the Predator and Global Hawk unmanned aircraft.
