Former EGF Pastor Accused of Stealing Wedding Ring

EAST GRAND FORKS, MN (WDAZ-TV) - A former associate pastor as Sacred Heart Catholic church in East Grand Forks is facing charges.
45-year-old Carlos Felipe Velez Rivera is accused of stealing a wedding ring left on a kitchen sink by a parishioner. There are also other allegations that he misappropriated donations and started a special missions collection without authorization while at Sacred Heart. Charges have not been filed in connection with those allegations.
The missing ring was found in Velez's living quarters in the parish rectory. If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Velez has since been placed on administrative leave.
