FISHER, MN (WDAZ-TV) - An 18-year old is in jail after allegedly sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl at the Fisher Public School.
Jarrin Boucher of Crookston has admitted that he touched the girl twice in a sexual manner.
The school held a meeting Tuesday night for parents of the kindergarten class in which the girl was assaulted. Emotions were high as parents were not just upset, but angry that they haven't received answers as to how this incident happened with a teacher in the classroom.
"I just want you all to remember that we would never ever put your children at risk," Fisher Public School counselor Gail Kasowski said.
It wasn't just parents who were upset. Kasowski got emotional when talking about the program which is supposed to mentor younger kids.
"I've run the Youth Service program for 20 years and we've had wonderful kids who've been wonderful mentors to these children," Kasowski said.
But parents say it can happen again and the school should do away with the program.
"I think a lot of parents would agree with me, that one time is one time too many and they just shouldn't be allowed anymore," parent Matthew Storbakken said.
"Teachers are asked not to leave students alone," Fisher Superintendent Don Blaeser said.
The meeting was held to help parents grieve with the situation. But school officials couldn't steer away from questions about why they haven't been told more about the investigation.
"Why would the school not make the parents aware that there's an investigation going on?" a parent asked.
"They're not answering any questions. They're really not helping out us parents the way it seems," Storbakken said.
But for now, parents wait as the investigation unfolds for questions to be answered, with feelings of anger and frustration.
Jarrin Boucher is being held on $250,000 bond.
