North Dakota Insurance Commissioner Adam Hamm is warning consumers about a telephone scam involving Medicare.
Hamm says scam artists are calling Medicare beneficiaries in the state and falsely telling them they owe financial penalties for not having Part D, or prescription drug, coverage.
Hamm says Medicare beneficiaries should never give financial or personal information to anyone over the phone. He says a Medicare official would never call and ask for such information.
