BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A state agency that administers money from a tobacco settlement says Cavalier is the eighth city in North Dakota to pass a smoke-free ordinance.
The Cavalier City Council passed the law earlier this week. The ordinance, which takes effect on July 1, makes all indoor public workplaces, including bars and restaurants, smoke-free.
Officials with North Dakota's Center for Tobacco Prevention and Control Policy says Cavalier joins Bismarck, Fargo, Devils Lake, Grand Forks, Napoleon, Pembina and West Fargo as cities with smoke-free policies.
Center director Jeanne Prom says the agency has made good progress, but has a lot more work to do.
