TOLNA, ND (WDAZ-TV) - Local volunteers in one Lake Region town have made quite a splash with a new boat ramp.

People in Tolna are hoping the new ramp brings anglers and their business to the small community. The ramp is the first of its kind near Tolna.

The project took years longer than expected because Stump Lake kept rising and pushing the ramp back.

But volunteers kept at it, with support from the community and state agencies.

"The community and the game and fish have been really supportive in developing a landing down here, a safe landing for boats when it gets windy," Bob Engen said.

Volunteers laid the foundation for fish cleaning station last weekend. That should be ready soon.

The ramp has already attracted fishermen from as far away as Minnnesota and Iowa to the waters of Tolna.
