UND Students to Compete in Lunabiotics Mining Competition

GRAND FORKS (WDAZ-TV) - UND students are competing against colleges across the world, traveling to sunny Florida for the Lunabiotics Mining Competition.

It will be at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. UND's team, "RAPTOR," designed and built a completely autonomous robot that will go head-to-head with other robots.

The robots have to excavate and deposit the most lunar dirt within 10 minutes. Teams are also judged on giving back to their community.

"Went to another school and did after-school activities with students for a week. They did a lot of little outreach activities here and there basically telling students about engineering and what engineers do and about space and NASA," team advisor Jeremiah Neubert said.
