Police Seek Culprit in ND Cattle Killings

HANKINSON, N.D. – Local and state investigators are asking for the public’s help to apprehend whoever is responsible for the shooting deaths of 14 cattle near here late last week.

HANKINSON, N.D. – Local and state investigators are asking for the public’s help to apprehend whoever is responsible for the shooting deaths of 14 cattle near here late last week.

According to the Richland County Sheriff’s Office:

The incident occurred late May 17 or early May 18 in a pasture area owned by David Kluge about eight miles southwest of Hankinson.

Kluge told authorities 13 cattle died from gunshot wounds. One other cow was critically wounded and had to be destroyed.

The cattle were valued at $30,000.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Office, the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the North Dakota Stockman’s Association are investigating the case as criminal mischief.

The agencies ask that anyone with information about the incident call (701) 642-7711.

The Stockman’s Association is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
