Cornell scores once, beats UNDScrivens collects 14th career shutout
ITHACA, N.Y. (AP) - Senior goalie Ben Scrivens made 28 saves, including a game-saving stop at the buzzer to lead No. 7 Cornell over No. 6 North Dakota 1-0 Friday.
Mike Devin scored the only goal of the game for the Big Red (10-4-3) at 1:55 of the third period. Devin's second goal of the season helped Cornell to its third win in four games and handed the Fighting Sioux their first nonconference loss of the season.
North Dakota (12-8-5) has been shut out 1-0 twice this season, both times on the road. Denver turned the trick back on Nov. 20.
The Fighting Sioux had a goal disallowed 11 seconds into the game after officials lost sight of the puck and blew the whistle.
Scrivens had nine saves in the first and second periods and 10 in the third en route to his 14th career shutout.
Aaron Dell made 14 saves for the Fighting Sioux. They take on the Big Red again Saturday in their final nonconference game of the season.
