GLENWOOD, Minn. (AP) — A fugitive accused in Pope County of kidnapping and beating his ex-girlfriend has been arrested in Anoka County.
Pope County Sheriff Timothy Riley said Wednesday authorities arrested the 39-year-old man after he was spotted in a car in Anoka County Tuesday evening. Riley says his investigators worked with the state Department of Corrections fugitive task force to locate the man who was on the run about a week.
Authorities say the suspect broke into the home of his former girlfriend near Clontarf May 17, abducted her, beat her and took off with her in her SUV. The woman was found later that day along Highway 10 near Little Falls with her broken-down vehicle.
