GRAND FORKS (WDAZ-TV) - One Grand Forks woman helped make the recent Feed the Children event possible. She has given her time to help countless families in the community.
"We've got the opportunity of getting 400 boxes of food," Maj. Jonathan Fjellman with the Salvation Army said.
In a time of exceptionally high need, 400 families received food thanks to the help of local volunteers.
But it's just a normal day for one special volunteer, Teckla Jacobson.
Jacobson works at the Salvation Army Food Pantry every weekday, 40 hours a week, for free.
"You can't get paid for everything in life," Jacobson said.
But her desire to give back doesn't stop there. Jacobson also spends lunchtime serving food at Northlands Rescue Mission and she volunteers with St. Michaels and Holy Family.
After 32 years working for UND, Teckla says she never dreamed of doing something like this, but she got addicted to the rewarding feeling.
