ND Governor Declares Snow Emergency
North Dakota Gov. John Hoeven has declared a snow emergency in order to make state resources available to respond.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - North Dakota Gov. John Hoeven has declared
a snow emergency in order to make state resources available to
respond.
Hoeven issued the order Friday as a winter storm carrying
freezing rain and snow pushed through the region.
The order activated the National Guard, which has equipment and
personnel staged around the state to respond as needed.
State transportation officials also have issued a statewide
travel alert. The storm has reduced visibility and made roads icy.
Blizzard-like conditions are expected to develop over the weekend
and into Monday.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol has suspended all oversized and
overweight vehicles from traveling in the southwest and
south-central part of the state.
