(WDAZ-TV) - The cool and wet weekend wasn't enough to keep campers from heading to Turtle River State Park just west of Grand Forks.

All three nights, the RV campgrounds were at or near capacity. Park officials say it didn't rain enough to keep people from fishing, hiking an biking.

They say it usually takes more than poor weather to keep people from using the state park on Memorial Day weekend.

"Typically Memorial Day Weekend and Labor Day weekend are our two big bookends to the camping season. Those would usually be our biggest ones. Fourth of July is usually a big one too," Park Assistant Manager Joseph Allen said.

Allen says this is one of the only weekends where all of the 79 full-service camp sites are taken.
