GRAND FORKS (WDAZ-TV) - If you want to fly west out of the Grand Forks International Airport, you'll no longer have to fly through Minneapolis.
United Airlines announced Tuesday that it will be providing nonstop service from Grand Forks to Denver beginning October 3.
United Airlines will add two non-stop, daily flights between the cities
United express carrier Sky West will operate the flights with 50-seat planes. The flights will begin October 3 leaving Grand Forks at 6 a.m. and 4:05 p.m.
Flights will leave Denver and head to Grand Forks at 12:40 p.m. and 7:45 p.m.
The Grand Forks Airport Authority has been working on adding this service for 20 years now. They say thanks to a cooperative effort, everyone's hard work has paid off.
"Pick an entity, pick any one of the public and private entities in Grand Forks and we're all working together. This would not have happened without that collaboration," City Council President and Airport Authority member Hal Gershman said.
The Denver hub will help connect Grand Forks passengers to thousands of other cities around the world.
