DEVILS LAKE, ND (WDAZ-TV) - Lake Region State College's interim President says his job is to keep things running smoothly while the school waits for a new president.
Dr. Doug Darling will take over for current president Mike Bower, who is leaving to become the president of a college in Ohio.
Darling has been with Lake Region since 1998 and is the school's VP of Instructional Services.
He says he doesn't know how long he will be president for. The State Board of Education has delayed the search for a permanent choice.
"So the state board decided not to move forward with our search until the new chancellor was in place, and I imagine he's going to want to get his feet on the ground and get a feel for things before he does that. So we anticipate the search will start sometime after July 1," Darling said.
Darling says his main focus is to keep things stable until a full-time replacement can be found.
Darling might be keeping the seat warm for himself. He says he plans to apply for the job when it is eventually listed.
