(WDAZ-TV) - Crookston firefighters had to rescue a man from a burning house early Thursday morning.

Two occupants of the house got out by themselves, but firefighters had to use a ladder to get the third person out.

The fire was reported shortly after 3 a.m. at 522 Summit Avenue.

The Crookston Times reports that Shawn and Sandy Hanson live in the home, and that Shawn was the person rescued from the window.

He was checked out at the hospital but is said to be okay.

Crookston firefighters aren't speculating about a cause but believe the fire started in the garage and spread to the house.

A state fire marshal is investigating.
