(WDAZ-TV) - A Grand Forks woman whose drunken driving accident led to an Inkster woman's death has pleaded guilty to negligent homicide.
26-year-old Ebony Nichole Miles was initially charged with manslaughter for her role in the death of 63-year-old Florence Umphrey.
Under the terms of the agreement reached in Grand Forks County District Court, Miles will serve four years in prison.
Miles cut off 64-year-old Raymond Umphrey on Gateway Drive February 8th.
Miles hit the Umphrey's car and it was knocked into another lane, where it was struck by an SUV.
Both Raymond and Florence Umphrey went Altru by ambulance.
According to court documents, Florence Umphrey died February 16 from injuries she suffered in the accident, including a brain bleed.
Miles had a blood alcohol level of .102 after the crash and was also arrested for possession of marijuana.
