Blizzard Warnings Posted for Parts of Minnesota

The National Weather Service posted a blizzard warning for northwest Minnesota until 6 p.m. and for western and south central areas through midnight.

Blizzard-like conditions are slowing travel in parts of Minnesota Monday.

Thief River Falls School District in Pennington County was among those that called off classes Monday.

Pennington County sheriff's dispatcher David Carlson says heavy, wet snow this past weekend was "like blowing applesauce around," but lighter snow combined with gusting winds in "the 30 mile per hour range" reduced visibility Monday.

A winter storm warning was in effect for northern Minnesota until 4 p.m.
