Roseau Rams Head to State

(WDAZ-TV) - Roseau going to state is nothing new. Their hockey program has been a fixture on high school's biggest stage. But this week it's baseball.

The Rams knocked out three-time defending section champ Fergus Falls

to earn the program's first trip to state since 2006.

The Roseau Rams bulldozed their way into the state tournament, rattling off eleven runs in their section championship win over Fergus Falls.

But believe it or not, it's pitching and defense, not the bats, that has the Rams going to state for the first time since 2006.

What makes this Roseau team special, though, is their experience. 10 of the 17 players are seniors who have grown up together both on and off the field.

They kick-off the state tournament Thursday at 12:30 p.m. against a Fairmont squad that went 24-3 this year.

Thursday's game against Fairmont will be played at Dick Putz field in St. Cloud.
