GRAND FORKS (WDAZ-TV) - Michael Brown has been re-elected to his fourth term as Grand Forks mayor, defeating challenger and City Council member Tyrone Grandstrand.

With all precincts reporting, Brown had 8,184 votes and Grandstrand tallied 3,680. There were 28 write-in votes.

Brown has held the position longer than any other mayor and was the first to be elected to a third term in 2008. He was first elected in 2000, defeated Pat Owens.

Grandstrand, while campaigning, said he deserved a shot at the seat because the city needs a long term strategic plan. He ran on a platform that the city needed a "full-time mayor."

At a debate in May, Brown said he deserved another term because there is much more his administration has to accomplish.
