A Fordville, N.D., man was injured Wednesday when he crashed his 2012 Harley Davidson motorcycle into the back of a pay loader on N.D. Highway 18 just outside Hatton.
According to the highway patrol, Gary A. Helland, 65, was southbound on his motorcycle at 2:05 p.m. when he attempted to pass a 1997 Willmar Wrangler Loader, driven by Dustin L. Enger, 24, of Hatton.
The attempted pass was made in a no passing zone, and Enger started to turn left off Highway 18 into the Reynolds United Co-op.
The patrol said Helland turned to the right to avoid the collision but drove into the back of the loader, causing the Harley to skid to a stop on the west shoulder of the road.
Helland was injured but was wearing a helmet and Enger was not hurt. The crash remains under investigation by the highway patrol.
