Europeans Visit State Mill to Learn About Wheat Processing

GRAND FORKS (WDAZ-TV) - Some mill owners and managers from overseas were in Grand Forks on Tuesday to learn a thing or two about the way we process wheat.

The group toured the North Dakota State Mill to learn about its day to day operations.

Italy and Spain import nearly 36 million bushels of U.S. wheat each year and the Europeans wanted to see the inner workings of mills here.

Those visiting the North Dakota Mill say it's important to learn first-hand how systems are run in the U.S.

"I think it's interesting for people in the grain industry, especially other flour millers to come through and see the flour mill, take ideas back and see how we do things differently in the U.S. from other countries," Mill Manager Vance Taylor said.

The North Dakota Mill is the largest single-site wheat flower mill and the only state-owned mill in the U.S.
