EAST GRAND FORKS, MN (WDAZ-TV) - After nearly 25 years with the East Grand Forks Fire Department, friends and colleagues celebrated the fire chief's retirement on Wednesday.
Randy Gust started his career in law enforcement and spent the past seven years of his career as fire chief. He says he is at retirement age and although it was a tough decision, he's excited for new challenges.
An open house at the fire station gave Gust the chance to say goodbye to many he has worked with.
"It was a hard, hard decision. It's not something you can jump right into. I had to do a little soul searching and asking my wife what she's thinking," Gust said.
Gust's last day is June 29. He has filed to run for Polk County Commissioner.
