(WDAZ-TV) - The Tolna Coulee outlet is running at full capacity taking water off flooded Devils Lake.

The pumps were turned on Wednesday as part of a tour to help people understand the two-decade long flood fight in the Lake Region and provide some relief.

A group of 130 on a flood tour got their first look at the outlet.

Crews have been testing the pumps since late May, but this is the first time they've been shown off for the public.

The group also toured the Lakota area and the Tolna Dam downstream of the outlet.

The west-end outlet has been running at full capacity since last week. The two pumps can remove 600 cfs off the lake.

The outlets will definitely lower the lake, but it will take a lot of work to undo 20 years of rising water.
