BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Burleigh County officials say the medical costs for a man accused of killing a Bismarck police officer have topped $128,000.
Steven Bannister has pleaded guilty in the July 8 slaying of Sgt. Steve Kenner. Kenner was killed after responding to a domestic disturbance call.
Another officer shot Bannister after he shot Kenner. Bannister also had a stroke in October.
Burleigh County Sheriff Pat Heinert tells the Bismarck Tribune (http://bit.ly/LenY1T ) that it's the most the county has ever spent on medical care for an individual.
Bannister is slated to be sentenced on July 31.
