'Brutal Assault' Results in Life-threatening Injuries for Bemidji Man

EAST OF BEMIDJI, MN (WDAZ-TV) - What the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office calls a "brutal assault" left a Bemidji man with life-threatening injuries after he was found lying on a road early Wednesday morning.

EAST OF BEMIDJI, MN (WDAZ-TV) - What the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office calls a "brutal assault" left a Bemidji man with life-threatening injuries after he was found lying on a road early Wednesday morning.

At 3:24 a.m., authorities received the report that Damien Matthew Charnoski, 30, was lying in the roadway on Roosevelt Road SE near Red Barn Lane SE just east of Bemidji.

Charnoski was taken to the emergency room in Bemidji and was later airlifted to a Fargo hospital.

The Sheriff's Office says Charnoski's injuries were from a "brutal assault" that occurred sometime after he left a downtown Bemidji bar with people who have yet to be identified. Authorities provided no other specifics regarding the assault.
