ND #10 Wind Energy State

North Dakota has cracked the top 10 of wind energy producing states.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota has cracked the top 10 of wind energy producing states.

The American Wind Energy Association says North Dakota has 1,200 megawatts of wind energy generating capacity.

Last year, the state added 488 megawatts of wind power generation. Projects were finished near Minot, Rugby, Wilton, Lake Ashtabula and Luverne.

Public Service Commissioners Brian Kalk and Kevin Cramer says the ranking will help promote North Dakota for even more energy development.

The Wind Energy Association says North Dakota has the most wind energy generation potential of any state.

Right now, Texas is first with more than 9,400 megawatts of wind energy generation capacity. Minnesota ranks fifth with more than 1,800 megawatts.
