GRAND FORKS - It got so hot Sunday a section of a Grand Forks street buckled.

Chunks of concrete, pushed two feet above the ground. Street workers were sent out, they say a combination of moisture and heat expanded the concrete.

It creates enough pressure to cause it to buckle.

Mike Roufs with the Grand Forks Street Department says, "It all depends on the heat in there. Sometimes it pops right up and other times it's just a gradual lift."

The Grand Forks engineering department will study that section road before it's replaced, making sure this doesn't happen again.
