MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — An attorney for Amy Senser say she's "deeply remorseful" for the pain felt by the family of a man killed in a hit-and-run crash last year.
Senser is scheduled to be sentenced Monday on two counts of criminal vehicular homicide for the August crash that killed 38-year-old Anousone Phanthavong.
She faces a maximum of four years in prison. But in new court documents, her attorney Eric Nelson is asking for probation.
According to the St. Paul Pioneer Press (http://bit.ly/R4aIQA ), Nelson wrote that Senser is sorry and has no criminal history.
Nelson says Senser struggles with the fact that she is responsible for taking a human life, even though it was an accident.
Hennepin County prosecutors are expected to file their response to Nelson's request on Thursday.
