One of the men arrested in a November drug bust at the UND chapter of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity received a deferred sentence Tuesday in Grand Forks County District Court.

Connor Moriarty, 19, of Waldo, Wis., agreed to a plea bargain in April that called for a one-year jail sentence, with 10 months suspended, and two years supervised probation.

According to court documents, Moriarty, a fraternity pledge, sold a police informant an ounce of marijuana for $345.

Moriarty was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and criminal conspiracy, both Class B felonies.

Eight other members of the fraternity were either cited or arrested in the incident, leading the national headquarters to suspend the local chapter until at least fall 2013.

Moriarty would have faced up to 20 years in prison if convicted on both charges.
