DEVILS LAKE, ND (WDAZ-TV) - A Devils Lake church nearly as old as the city itself is gearing up to celebrate 125 years.

St. Olaf Lutheran Church has been welcoming worshippers since the 19th century. That history will be celebrated this Sunday during two church services.

The service will feature music, and former pastors reminiscing about the church's history. The church may be old, but it's still going strong.

Weekly services draw 200 people during the summer. Pastor Jeffrey Nicla says the fact the church is still going should be celebrated.

"It is an incredible milestone, I think. I don't think Devils Lake is too much older than 125 years, and for any institution to be around that long is just kind of incredible," Nicla said.

There is some controversy over the church's age. Some say it's actually 127 years old, but it's difficult to sort through records to find the exact date.
