A 14-year-old boy was airlifted to a Fargo hospital after an accident at the intersection of U.S. Highway 2 and U.S. Highway 281 near Churchs Ferry, N.D., according to the N.D. Highway Patrol.

A 2002 Chevrolet van driven by Shawna Clark, 30, of Abilene, Texas, was westbound on Highway 2, the patrol said.

A 2005 Chevy Trailblazer driven by Diane Hawkins, 65, was stopped at the intersection facing south and pulled in front of the van, which struck the Trailblazer in the driver’s door, the patrol said.

The van carried three passengers: the 14-year-old from Abilene; and Steven Guillory, 26, and Richard Mortell, 28, both of Conway, Ark.

All five in the accident were initially taken to Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake. Only the boy was airlifted.

The crash is still under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
