There are just under thirty road construction projects in Grand Forks both big and small. But city engineers say compared to many other years there have been a lot less construction zones to go around.

Drivers in Grand Forks are cruising columbia road cone-free once again after spending nearly half the summer with construction for several blocks. 20th Avenue South was also connected to Columbia there, which only added to the congestion.

Traffic is still slowed by crews at the corner of North Columbia road and 20th Avenue South where there is a state project of concrete repairs and other improvements. That construction should be complete the first week in September.

Grand Forks City Engineer Rich Romness says most of the city construction projects this year have been small in size and that that will not be the case next year. He also says that there are six paving projects that have not yet been started in Grand Forks but that those projects are small and will be in residential sections of town.
